President Zhao held a significant farewell banquet in Shanghai
Wish Mr. Bill Howad, Board Chairman of IDCC, a nice trip back home
On
Aug. 7th, 2005, at 6:30 PM, Jiangsu Hotel of Shanghai was very
alive. EDRI and IDC had a farewell banquet here to wish Mr. Bill Howard,
Board Chairman of IDCC, a nice trip back home.
President Zhao gave a speech brimming with warm feeling, he said: Today the
leaders of EDRI made a special trip here from Chengdu in spite of the
typhoon disturbance to see off our dear Bill Howard. We decided to award Mr.
Bill Howard the Medal of Honor, to appreciate his persistent efforts to
promote the cooperation of two sides. At the same time, thank John Palmer
and him for the outstanding contributions to the development of IDCC. Why
did we hold such significant farewell banquet? On the one hand, appreciate
Bill Howard and John Palmer for the efforts into the important projects,
such as Infovision TFT-LCD, Wuxi Hynix, Changzhou Nanotech, Hitachi, Tianjin
Zhonghuan and others. On the other hand, the top leaders of EDRI attached
great importance to IDC, and cherish the friendship between EDRI and IDC.
President Zhao played the recall of great invents of the cooperation between
EDRI and IDC, which was well chosen and made by himself. His speech was
followed by a burst of
claps.
Vice president Liu Shengchun introduced the guests, and Vice President He Ping read the No.68 Doc. distributed by President Office of EDRI. President Zhao gave the Medal of Honor, Award plate and souvenir to Bill Howard, and gave him a big hug. Claps started again.
Mr. Bill Howard addressed an affectionate speech, he said: I was very excited to attend the banquet. Having this Medal, I felt the honor was too high. During the years in China, we got joyful cooperation with Mr. Zhao. The crew of EDRI was the best, and we had many excellent work together. Today’s departure meant the beginning of our new cooperation. In September, I would be back and discuss the cooperation project with EDRI. Mr. Bill Howard’s speech won the warm claps.
IDC Asia Pacific President John Palmer delivered a enthusiastic speech, he
said: Mr. Zhao held such ceremonious banquet for my friend, Bill Howard,
which made me very touched. This fully showed that EDRI paid great attention
to the cooperation and friendship between the two
sides.
I believed that we would surely have better cooperation. Everyone claps for
Mr. John Palmer.
IDC Vice President Steven Cook had a warm speech, too, he said: As a guest from USA, I was very honored to witness the unforgettable moment. The visit to Chengdu strongly impressed on my memory. I believed that our cooperation would be better and better. Warm claps were given to him.
During the banquet, everyone talked kindly, and expressed friendship to each other. At last, the whole took photos together, to remember the memorable moment.
There were more than 50 people attending the banquet. The group of EDRI
included President Zhao Zhenyuan, Vice President Liu Shengchun, Vice
President He Ping, Chief Engineer Yao Wei, President of Shanghai Branch Dai
Xiaoqian, President of Huadong Branch Shen Lei, Director of Pudong Design
Center Bai Yan, He Chunsheng and Jia Yi, Vice President of Shanghai Branch,
Wei jian, Vice President of Suzhou Branch, Chief Designer Chen Luhua and
others. The group of
IDC
included IDC Vice President Steven Cook, IDC Asia Pacific President John
Palmer, IDCC Board Chairman Bill Howard, Lin Zhihong, Zhang Wenfu and Hu
Wenhui, IDC functionary of China.
